Classwork #3
There are four basic Vedic texts in use by Hindus.
The Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca is called the Hajj.
Describe the details of the Hajj, and include a photo or video of a Hajj in your blog.
It is a mandatory religious duty to be done by all adult Muslims who are physically and monetarily able to undercome the trip at least once in their lifetime. It is also considered one of the five pillars of the Islamic religion, along Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, and Sawm. It is the second largest gathering by all Muslims around the world after the Arba'een Pilgrimage.
It consists in showing the solidarity between Muslim people and their submission to Allah. The word Hajj means to "to attend a journey".
Give a brief description of each, including how many hymns are in each.
1. Rigveda
Oldest extant Indic text, which consists of 1028 hymns, all dedicated to Rigvedic deities. As the collection goes on, the length of the hymns shortens as the amount of hymns increases.
2. Yajurveda
It consists
3. Samaveda
It has 1549 stanzas, from which all but 75 derive from the Rigveda. Some are full hymns, pieces of hymns, and some stanzas that comprise no hymn.
4. Atharvaveda
It has about 760 hymns, from which 160 are similar to those from the Rigveda. It was not considered as a Veda during the Vedic era, until late in the first millennium BCE.
Do some independent research, and in your own words describe the practice of indulgences.
Early Roman Christians believed that, through the sacrament of reconciliation, they were able to escape purgatorial punishment due to sins whose eternal punishment has been remitted and their guilt excused.
Why do you think Martin Luther objected to indulgences? Because he felt that it was wrong for only wealthy people who could afford the sacrament of reconciliation to be excused from sins that no human, not even the Pope, had the right to pardon.
Please note where your research led you.
